From your initial scheduling call to the final clinical report, our process is designed to be thorough, supportive, and child-centered.

1. Pre-Testing Intake

A few days before your appointment, your assigned examiner will contact you for a 20-minute intake call. This is a vital step where you can share your child’s educational history, any specific testing goals, and any concerns you may have.

  • Note: In some instances, this intake may be conducted in person immediately upon your arrival on testing day.

2. Testing Day Logistics

  • Duration: Testing typically lasts 2 to 3 hours, though this varies based on your child’s individual pace and the specific assessments required.
  • Breaks: We include 1–2 scheduled breaks. Please bring a small snack and a drink for your child to enjoy with you during these times.
  • The Environment: Your child will work one-on-one with an examiner in a quiet, private room designed to minimize distractions and help them focus.
  • Parent Waiting: We request that a parent/guardian stay in our waiting area.

3. How to Prepare Your Child

Because these are cognitive assessments of "novel" problem-solving, formal preparation or "test prep" is discouraged. Preparing for these tests can distort a child's true cognitive profile and may hinder a valid assessment.

  • Rest and Nutrition: Ensure your child has a good night’s sleep and follows their normal morning routine, including a healthy breakfast.
  • What to Say: We suggest explaining the day like this:
“You are going to solve some different kinds of problems and puzzles today. These aren’t like school tests where you’re supposed to study. On these tests, you’ll be asked things that are brand new to you. Some will be easy and some will be for older kids and might be hard. Just do your best and don’t give up.”
  • Managing Anxiety: If your child is nervous, reassure them that they aren't expected to know all the answers. Most children find the process engaging and enjoy the one-on-one attention!

4. Scoring & Clinical Review

Following the session, the examiner scores the assessment and drafts a detailed report. As part of our high clinical standards, every report undergoes a rigorous review and supervision process by a Licensed Psychologist to ensure the highest level of accuracy and insight.

5. Feedback & Results

  • Virtual Feedback Session: Approximately 2 to 4 weeks after testing, you will have a virtual call with the examiner to review the results in detail and discuss your child’s unique cognitive profile.
  • Report Delivery: After the feedback session, a secure electronic copy of the final report will be sent directly to you to share with schools or specialists as needed.
