Group Testing/CogAT & NNAT

Overview

Our program offers Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT-3) at certain points of the year in a group format. Most students are able to take one or both of these tests on our testing dates. Students are not eligible to take the CogAT or NNAT within a 6 month period.

Students are not eligible to take the CogAT or NNAT more than once within a 6 month period. These tests are administered on paper/pencil. Other than a good rest and healthy breakfast, preparation is discouraged. Our proctors will ensure that students understand what to do on these tests.

Group Testing Dates this fall/winter are the following. You are encouraged to sign up for the earliest date possible.

  • October 18, 2025
  • November 15, 2025
  • December 6, 2025
  • January 10, 2026

Results will be available within 4 weeks, sent directly to the parent/guardian as a password protected PDF. If your student has a published deadline ahead of this time, please share that information with us upon registration and we will do our best to help you meet this deadline.

Testing will be held on these Saturday mornings with check in starting at 8:30am. Testing is held on the ground floor of Thompson Hall on GMU’s Fairfax Campus. Detailed information about arrival, timing, and location will be provided within the week of testing by email. This email will also include a link for credit card payment, which is due prior to the testing day.

We are aware that FCPS is no longer offering the NNAT or CogAT to their students. They will be giving the Naglieri General Abilities Test (NGAT) instead. However, FCPS shared that they will continue to accept the CogAT/NNAT from our program. If you have additional questions about FCPS AAP policies, please check their website or staff at your child’s school.

The WISC-V is another test accepted by FCPS AAP. To schedule this individual testing, with the WISC-V, which is offered year-round, please call our office 703-993-4200. Leave a message if you don’t reach us and we will return your call within 2 business days.
